The VideoBuffet app

VideoBuffet does not collect, transmit, store remotely, or share any data — personal or otherwise. Specifically:

• No data collection. The app has no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting service, and no user accounts.
• Everything runs on device. Playback, framing, the framing memory, playlists, and the built-in help chat all run entirely on your Mac. Questions you type into the help chat never leave your computer.
• No trained model, no training data. Framing is yours to decide: when you open Frame… on a video, VideoBuffet finds its scene changes with plain frame arithmetic — no machine-learning model, no downloaded weights, no network — and you choose the crop for each scene. The scene-change timestamps are cached in a local file keyed by a one-way hash of the file's location (never the filename or path in plain text, and no video content); a moved or renamed file simply re-scans in seconds. Your saved framing itself is keyed to the video's content, so it follows the file through renames and moves. Neither file ever leaves your Mac.
• Your videos stay yours. VideoBuffet plays your files in place, never modifies your originals, and never uploads anything. (One local exception: the direct-download edition converts .ogg and .mxf files into a playable cached copy — that copy also never leaves your Mac.)
• No network connections. The app makes no network requests. It works fully offline.
• Diagnostics are copy-paste, not telemetry. Help ▸ Copy Diagnostics puts a short plain-text block of numbers on your clipboard — app and macOS versions, hardware model, tile and window counts, index sizes. It never includes file names, paths, or content, and the app sends nothing anywhere; you decide whether to paste it into a support email.

The one exception: feedback you choose to send

Choosing Help > Send Feedback composes an email in your own mail app, addressed to us. The draft contains your message plus the app and macOS version numbers so we can help effectively. Nothing is sent unless you press Send in your mail app, and the email reaches us like any ordinary email — we use it only to respond to you. We don't add you to any mailing list.

Purchases

If you buy VideoBuffet on the Mac App Store, the purchase is processed entirely by Apple under Apple's privacy policy. VideoBuffet receives no personal information about you from the transaction.

This website

videobuffet.app is a set of static pages. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics or tracking scripts, embeds no third-party resources, and has no forms. Like any website, the hosting infrastructure that serves these pages processes standard request data (such as your IP address) to deliver them and may keep routine, short-lived operational logs; we do not use such logs to identify or track anyone.

Children

Because neither the app nor this site collects data from anyone, they collect no data from children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes — for example, if a future version of the app adds an online feature — we will update this page and its effective date before the change takes effect. The current version always lives at this address.
