Privacy Policy

The VideoBuffet app

VideoBuffet does not collect, transmit, store remotely, or share any data — personal or otherwise. Specifically:

• No data collection. The app has no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting service, and no user accounts.
• Everything runs on device. Playback, AI auto-framing, the reframing memory system, playlists, and the built-in help chat all run entirely on your Mac. Questions you type into the help chat never leave your computer.
• The framing index stores geometry only. The auto-framing index records crop coordinates keyed by a one-way content fingerprint — no filenames and no video content. It lives in a local file on your Mac.
• Your videos stay yours. VideoBuffet plays your files in place, never modifies your originals, and never uploads anything. (One local exception: the direct-download edition converts .ogg and .mxf files into a playable cached copy — that copy also never leaves your Mac.)
• No network connections. The app makes no network requests. It works fully offline.

The one exception: feedback you choose to send

Choosing Help > Send Feedback composes an email in your own mail app, addressed to us. The draft contains your message plus the app and macOS version numbers so we can help effectively. Nothing is sent unless you press Send in your mail app, and the email reaches us like any ordinary email — we use it only to respond to you. We don't add you to any mailing list.

Purchases

If you buy VideoBuffet on the Mac App Store, the purchase is processed entirely by Apple under Apple's privacy policy. VideoBuffet receives no personal information about you from the transaction.

This website

videobuffet.app is a set of static pages. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics or tracking scripts, embeds no third-party resources, and has no forms. Like any website, the hosting infrastructure that serves these pages processes standard request data (such as your IP address) to deliver them and may keep routine, short-lived operational logs; we do not use such logs to identify or track anyone.

Children

Because neither the app nor this site collects data from anyone, they collect no data from children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes — for example, if a future version of the app adds an online feature — we will update this page and its effective date before the change takes effect. The current version always lives at this address.
